How We Compare Contractor Platforms
Our transparent methodology for evaluating contractor management solutions
Last updated: October 2025
We've analyzed 44+ contractor management platforms to help businesses make informed decisions. This page explains our evaluation criteria and how we ensure accuracy.
Our Evaluation Criteria
Pricing Transparency
We collect pricing directly from each platform's website, sales teams, or publicly available documentation. When pricing isn't public, we note it as "Contact for pricing" and explain typical cost structures based on industry standards.
Feature Comparison
We evaluate platforms based on core contractor management features: payment processing, contract generation, compliance tools, invoicing, and reporting. We distinguish between platforms built for employees (EOR) versus true contractor management.
Use Case Fit
Not every platform suits every business. We identify whether a solution is best for agencies, startups, enterprises, or specific industries. We also note when a platform is overkill for simple contractor management needs.
Hidden Costs
We calculate total cost of ownership including platform fees, transfer fees, FX markups, and implementation costs. Many platforms advertise low per-contractor fees but charge significant transaction fees that add up quickly.
Data Sources
- Official pricing pages and documentation from each platform
- Direct conversations with sales teams
- User reviews from G2, Capterra, and Trustpilot
- Public case studies and customer testimonials
- Industry reports and market research
How We Stay Current
Pricing and features change frequently. We update our comparison pages quarterly and monitor announcements from major platforms. Each page includes a "last updated" date so you know how current the information is.

Our Perspective
We built Kontrable because we experienced the pain of overpaying for contractor management. Our comparisons reflect our belief that most businesses don't need expensive EOR platforms when they're working with true independent contractors.
That said, we acknowledge when competitors are better fits for specific use cases. If you need to hire full-time employees internationally, platforms like Deel and Remote.com are excellent choices. If you're managing contractors, we believe there's a better way.
Platforms We Compare
We've analyzed 44+ platforms including:
- EOR platforms: Deel, Remote.com, Oyster HR, Rippling
- Payroll-first: Gusto, ADP, Paychex, Papaya Global
- Contractor-focused: Pilot, Plane, Lano, Worksuite
- Regional specialists: BIPO, Agile HRO, INS Global
- Emerging players: Borderless AI, Native Teams, Teamed
